So why Grandpa Joe?
Grandpa Joe was born in Attercliffe, Sheffield on the 18th October 1931 and attended Carbrook School in his early years. Grandpa Joe joined the army as a cook after leaving school. After that he Worked in the Rolling Mills at Attercliffe . He then moved on to Cocker Brothers which was also at Attercliffe. He made Springs for cars etc.
Grandpa Joe married and had 3 children, including Birley Moor Garden Centre’s very own Revd Dave!
The brand of Grandpa Joe came alive back in 2003, when local author Andrea Walker (Revd Dave’s wife!) authored a children’s book series: ‘Grandpa Joe’. Funds raised from these books are donated to Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital. The series includes 4 books:
These are still available for purchase today from Grandpa Joe’s Potting Shed and Birley Moor Garden Centre, with 100% of purchases being donated to Sheffield’s Children’s Hospital.

Serving a wide range of beverages, we are proud to be pouring Hawkstone! (As seen on Clarkson’s Farm). Don’t worry if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, we have a range of hot and cold drinks including coffee, spirits and soft drinks to cater all taste buds!
For the 4 legged friends, we have a wide selection of dishes and products on offer including doggy icecream!
We serve delicious ice cream from Yorvale, serving a range of classic flavours and some customer favourites.
GIFTS – We also have a giftware corner. You can purchase merch, Grandpa Joe’s Book’s, Grandpa Joe’s Spiced Rum, Hawkstone Bottles, Dancing Anchor Spirits Gins.

Yes, absolutely! We welcome the whole family, however unsupervised naughty children may be composted.
We love Dogs and even have a doggy menu!
